To repair your washing machine, you need to change both bearings, one on the pulley side and the other on the drum side, as well as the retaining device. Here are the steps to follow: 1. Remove the pulley by unscrewing the nut and also remove the belt. Disconnect the heating element and the thermostat. Remove all the screws surrounding the tank cover. Some models also require the removal of the counterweight (seed stone) in order to remove the tank cover with the drum. Some washing machines require some machining to remove the drum from the back of the machine, while others require opening the sides of the cabinet. You will know which method to use depending on your model. Once you have removed the trim and the drum, place the drum upside down and use a wooden wedge to hit the shaft and separate the drum from the trim. Inside the trim, you will find the two bearings and the retaining device to be replaced. To reassemble the new parts, simply follow the reverse steps of disassembly.
