The drum of the dryer has jammed while spinning and the washing machine makes a squeaking noise. This is a top loading washing machine. If the motor becomes very hot when the washing machine is running, the motor belts may be worn and producing friction and noise. Remove the belt and turn the pulley by hand. If you notice that it is heavy or difficult to turn, the washing machine has bearing problems and the belt is slipping on the motor pulley. This may have caused the original belt to cut. If the belt is loose it will slip on the motor pulley and it will generate a squeaking noise with each gear change. If you find that the belt is loose, you can adjust it by moving the motor down after loosening the screw on the sliding guide. After replacing the belt, retighten the screws. Some models of dryers are equipped with a belt adjustment mode, allowing the belt to be tightened. If the belt is broken, you should consult your dealer to find an equivalent model that will fit your machine. It is important to measure the diameter of the belt so that the new part can be correctly placed between the pulleys.
