Having noticed that the washing machine was not spinning, a new belt was put in place. If the washing machine does not have a system for tensioning the new belt between the two pulleys, it must be tensioned manually. There are two procedures for tensioning a belt between two pulleys. Loosen the screws at the base of the main motor and move the motor in the opposite direction to the other pulley until the belt is tensioned. Then fasten the screws and test. Of course, the belt should not be too big. You should choose a belt that is suitable for your washing machine model. The diameter must be compatible so that the new belt can be installed and remain tight during the wash cycles. Check the number of teeth and see if the belt is elastic or not. Some washing machines have a third small pulley located between the two large pulleys. This pulley is the one that will exert the required tension so that the belt can work smoothly between the two large pulleys. The solution is to tension the spring of the third pulley which is fixed in a grooved plate. As it turns, this third pulley exerts tension between the belt and the two large pulleys.
