The washing machine's wash cycles do not run properly. The drum can no longer turn and the laundry is wet. The spinning process is no longer carried out. The belt must be changed. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws that hold the back panel of the washing machine if it is a porthole machine, or the side panel if your machine is a top loading type. Check the condition of the belt. Wear cloth gloves because the pulley can cut your fingertips. If the belt is completely loose from the pulleys it will need to be reinstalled and tightened sufficiently so that it will not slip off the axle. If the belt is worn, a new one compatible with the washing machine should be purchased and installed. Place the belt from the bottom, so that it fits over the motor shaft first, then place the belt on the pulley until it is slightly taut. Once the belt is in place, turn the pulley to make sure it stays in place on the shaft. The belt should be in the center of the pulley. If it slips, correct this by rotating the motor shaft and moving it on the rail.
