The drum of your HOOVER dryer does not turn during the drying cycles. You have disassembled the appliance and found that the belt is broken. Be sure to get a belt model that is compatible with your dryer. To install the new belt, unplug the unit and move it away from the wall to allow enough room to change the part.
While moving the dryer, take the opportunity to remove any lint that may be present in the venting system. Disconnect the electrical cables. Position the new belt around the drum. It is normal for the belt to be loose. Shim the drum on a small box so that it is in the same position as it is in the machine. Slide the belt around and position it in the groove where the old one was. The sticky, grooved side should be facing the drum.
Installation will be easier if the drum is placed a few inches below the top of the machine. Attach the belt to the motor pulley. Place it in the groove. Wrap the new belt around the motor pulley. The motor is the metal assembly located in the bottom corner of the dryer. Locate the pulley that turns at the front end and wrap the dryer belt around it, positioning it in the center groove. The belt should still be fairly loose. It will stretch when you attach it to the idler pulley and lift the drum back into place.
If you start the Hoover tumble dryer, the motor makes noise. You may also smell something burning, and your Hoover clothes dryer does not work properly It's time to change the belt, and it's cheap. It takes 15 minutes to replace a belt, and we ship all belts (poly-Vee, drive belt) within 24 hours.
