Changing the belt on a clothes dryer can be difficult. It is relatively easy to go around the drum, but then it becomes more difficult to pass the belt around the motor. This is because there is often no pulley around the motor. When there is a tensioner on the motor, you obviously have to use it and pass the belt through. But sometimes they don't have one and it's the elasticity of the belt that allows to install it.
The best thing to do then is to use an original belt. The fact that the belt is as long as the original belt is not always enough, especially if the name contains the initials "EL". Elastic belts are the most difficult to fit because everything has to be in place before the belt can be moved closer to the engine shaft. Here are two repair tips: By passing a wrench with a hole through the belt and inserting the wrench hole into the motor shaft, the belt can be carefully pulled down to tension it and fit it into the pulley (using dishwashing liquid can help it slide easily into the wrench, but the belt must be washed and dried thoroughly afterwards or it may slip).
The other method is to first pass the belt through the motor shaft and partially around the drum (leaving part of the belt outside), then turn the drum with one hand while the other hand inserts the missing belt.
