Water no longer reaches the washing machine. The drum does not turn. First of all, you should test the condition of the motor. Remove the belt from the motor and the washing machine will run in spin mode but without water, and see if the motor turns. If you find that the belt fails to drive the drum, it may be loose. If the washing machine is top-loading, the drum is not oriented the same way as in front-loading machines. To access the belt, remove the back panel for the window machine and the side panel for the top-loading machine.
The belt can be completely disconnected from the pulleys and is then at the bottom of the machine. It can also be left in place and simply moved out of alignment. The easiest way is to remove it completely. Check the condition of the belt and if it is damaged, get a new belt that is compatible with the washing machine. If you put the worn belt back on, it will keep coming off its axis. Position the new belt around the small motor pulley. Hold the belt at the small pulley so that it does not come off and position the belt along the drum pulley until the belt tension makes it difficult to operate. The belt should be fully seated on the drum pulley.
