Tip of the day

The dryer was purchased about ten years ago. The drive belt that connects the motor to the spinning bass drum broke. The belt was changed and the unit ran smoothly for two months. Recently, during a drying cycle, a metallic noise was heard. Overnight, the dryer stopped working. It is advisable to check the various parts of the appliance to find out where the failure comes from and if it is due to a defect in the belt. The top cover should be removed to assess whether the drum has moved to the side and is jammed. If the front door can be removed it will be possible to access the motor to see if the belt has slipped off the shaft. Observe where the drum rests.
Some dryers have guides on the sides of the inside of the front panel on which the drum rests and allows it to turn. In other cases, they have insulation between the outer part of the cabinet where the drum rests and the inner part. If this insulation is not present, it will cause metallic friction and therefore a noticeable noise during the drying cycles. Check the position of the belt between the drum, the tensioner pulley and the motor pulley, and manually rotate the drum to see if there is any resistance.
