It would be interesting to see different angles of the transmission box to get a precise idea of this dryer model. The noise you mentioned seems to be related to the clutch arm. Attached is a photo of the clutch arm from the web. This arm needs to be detached from the white plastic gear in order to loosen the belt or brake belt. This will keep the transmission box housing still, allowing the drum to rotate.
