It seems that the washing machine motor is not working properly. It is idling. The problem is the belt, which may be loose or simply worn out. Belts wear out over time. They can no longer drive the motor pulley. In the case of a washing machine with a window, the belt is located at the back of the machine. In the case of a washing machine with top loading, the pulley is located on the sides. Therefore, you must first unplug the machine and remove the side panels to access the pulley. Remove the belt by pulling it firmly outward. When the belt is removed, the motor will run normally. Check the condition of both pulleys. Rotate the drum by hand, after removing the belt, to see if there is any friction from the rotation. If the drum rotates freely and no noise is heard, the malfunction of the unit is due to the belt. Before installing a new belt, check the condition of both pulleys to make sure they are not warped. Place the new belt in the washing machine. First place the belt in the grooves of the motor shaft, in line with the belt grooves, then on the pulley, and rotate the pulley. Make several turns of the pulley and make sure the belt is tight.
