The washing machine starts and the water flows smoothly into the tub. The drum fails to turn during the drying cycle. There is a good chance that the belt of the washing machine is defective. In this case, either the belt is damaged and will have to be replaced, or it has only been moved. To change the belt, you need to remove the rear cover by removing the screws. This will allow access to the motor and pulleys. If the belt is loose, it should be tightened. Some types of washing machines are equipped with an option to tighten the belt. If the belt is broken or damaged, it will be necessary to purchase a new part. The belt model number appears on the part. It is important to choose a belt that is compatible with the washing machine. Position the new belt around the small motor pulley. If the belt has grooves, be sure to place them on the grooves on the motor pulley. Position the other end of the belt along the drum pulley until the belt tension makes this difficult. Rotate the drum pulley so that the belt fits into it. Slowly continue this motion until the belt is fully seated on the drum pulley. Once the belt is in place, test the belt for proper positioning so that it does not come off the spindle the first time the washing machine is used. Rotate the large pulley and see if the belt is sticking out from the edge of both pulleys. If it does, while rotating the drum pulley with one hand, apply pressure to the edge of the belt to center it. Then manually drive the large pulley through several turns. If the belt stays in place, it is properly positioned.
