The washing machine has no power. The drum barely turns. Spin does not occur. Replace the motor capacitor if you find that the measurements are not correct. Remove the plate on the back of the washer by removing the screws to gain access to the motor part of the machine. The belt may be loose. In this case, it slips on the rotation axis during the wash cycles and the drum fails to rotate properly. Some machines are equipped with a function to tighten the belt. If the malfunction is not due to the belt being too tight, remove the belt to check its condition. A worn belt should be replaced because it will eventually break. Remove the belt from both pulleys. Get a new belt and put it in place. Slide it over the first pulley and tighten it to secure it to the second pulley. Turn the pulley slowly so that the belt gradually snaps into place and tightens. Test by programming a wash cycle on the washing machine, without putting in a load of laundry. Check that during the cycle there is no rubbing noise and that the drum turns smoothly from right to left. Tighten the belt if necessary before replacing the plate at the back of the washing machine.
