When washing, the washing machine makes a rubbing noise. The drum does not turn enough to spin the clothes. The transmission is similar to other machines, with an American washing system (agitator). In these machines, the pulley moves the agitator and a coupling or clutch system turns the machine, moving the spin drum. In some models, the agitator rotation reversal occurs because the motor reverses its rotation every second. In some washing machine models, throughout the wash cycle, the motor rotates on one side and the transmission reverses the rotation of the agitator. For the spin cycle, the motor reverses the direction of rotation. In these machines, there are no clutches or couplings. Therefore, remove the belt and start the washing machine. Check whether the motor turns to one side or reverses during washing. Also check whether the motor is running or not during the spinning process. Turn the motor and turn the agitator. When the belt is removed, the motor runs normally. When the belt is present on both pulleys, the motor turns in one direction and rotates the agitator. The frictional noise identified is due to the belt being worn and therefore unable to drive the drum during the washing and spinning phases. It is advisable to change the belt, taking care to replace it with a belt compatible with your appliance.
